Geoffrey is CEO of Eden Alternative UK and the Managing Director of Southern Healthcare (Wessex) Limited which he founded in 2001. He is immensely proud of the Company’s four care homes which are all run with the help of his outstanding team. Prior to his current career, Geoffrey was a practicing Solicitor for 25 years. He is married to Margot, a Registered Nurse, who is Southern Healthcare’s Director of Nursing and Compliance.

All four of the Southern Healthcare Homes are accredited Eden Homes. The Eden Alternative is a recognised International Provider with Skills for Care and is a vehicle to change the culture of care in Nursing Homes from an institutional medical model to one of empowerment and person-centred care. The movement trains and promotes wellbeing in staff, residents and families and takes an anti-ageist stance, promoting inclusion and effective leadership. Both Geoffrey and Margot are proud to be Eden Alternative board members and trainers.

Geoffrey completed a Masters degree in Dementia Studies at Stirling University in 2013. He is a member of several groups representing social care providers including the Devon Care Home Collaborative - providing inter-Home support collaboration with Commissioners and sharing best practice, the Care Association Alliance and Reinventing Social Care.

In his spare time, Geoffrey enjoys sailing and music. He regularly performs to Home residents on the drums with the Southern Healthcare Quintet.
