Sharron Hinchcliff
Sharron is Professor of Psychology and Health in the School of Allied Health Professions, Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Sheffield. She leads a programme of research, teaching, and innovation that focuses on the sexual rights of people from midlife onwards and the intersecting inequalities we can face. She has worked in this area since 2001.
Sharron is passionate about the subject. In 2022 she launched the Sexual Rights Charter for Older Adults, developed in partnership with Age-friendly Sheffield. The Charter aims to ensure that people are treated with dignity and respect, and without discrimination, as they get older when it comes to sexuality. It was designed to help people get better at talking about sexuality so they can get the support they need and services are guided on how to provide that support. Currently, it is driving positive change in both the health and social care sectors.
