The Eden Alternative is a model of care to enhance the wellbeing of residents in any care situation. It provides direct training to Care Homes and Home Care Services, management and staff. It aims to build a truly positive culture; partnership working and empowering members of the team. It addresses loneliness, helplessness and boredom in residents. Eden UK runs both face-to-face training and online courses for the accreditation of candidates as Certified Eden Associates. Eden has been running such training in over 20 countries on 5 continents for nearly 30 years. Face-to-face training takes place across 3 days. Alternatively, learning can be accessed via an online course which runs 1 hour per week, interactive learning sessions over 6 weeks and includes a workbook, individual learner project, an assessment at the end of the digital sessions and a certificate of training. Homes and Home Care Services can opt to work towards becoming an Eden accredited Home/Service via an annual subscription which includes a validation to assess how Eden features within the life of the Home or Service. Validation recognises progress achieved and higher levels of accreditation can be attained based upon published milestones to support and encourage continuing development.
