Automated Lateral Patient Turning - Moving & Handling Safely
With the community, post acute and acute sectors all facing staffing shortages of qualified Carer's in the UK, and for those in their roles having to manage the additional stresses those shortages bring, Emma will offer her insights into the critically important areas around the methods of moving and handling patients in the care environment.
Emma will explore how, through innovative equipment and techniques in an appropriate setting, Carer's and their organisations can reduce the physical burden on staff and help to maintain the levels of dignity that every Carer seeks for their clients through regular safe lateral patient turning.
Complimenting this the potential for reducing the risk of Pressure Injuries when in care and the associated cost burden of increased care levels required in their management. Regular turning with the right equipment will be explored and insights offered on equipment that can enhance the patient environment bringing new levels of comfort and care with examples of not only preventative measures but also using lateral turning mattresses in a therapy application where PU's have already been identified.
